Face Values

Dawn Johnson

A motivational book for people who have, or are, experiencing difficult times in their lives.

Face Values paints my roller coaster ride of emotions after waking up with half a nose and a hole where my cheek should be. It shares the stigma of gross facial disfigurement, the trauma of radiation therapy, years of painful and debilitating reconstruction surgery, and ongoing Bells Palsy which result in severe bouts of depression.

Face Values shows how inner strength, nurtured by personal traumas including the death of two children, together with the right attitude, can triumph over the spectra of other people’s reactions and deep dark holes of depression.

From the depths of despair I discover the value of life, and learn that the face we show the world is of minor importance. True friends and caring people see below this surface.
